About Dr. William Sanders
Dr. William Sanders received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University in 1980 and an MD degree from the University of British Columbia in 1984. He completed an Internship at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver in 1985 and was in private Family Practice for 20 years. In 1994 Dr. Sanders obtained a diploma in Sport Medicine from the Canadian Academy of Sport Medicine and then went on to obtain extra training in Rheumatology and certification in Acupuncture from the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada.
From 1993 to 2005 Dr. Sanders had a referral practice in Sport Medicine and became a local expert in, and teacher of, soft tissue and joint injection techniques. This led Dr. Sanders to expand his repertoire into Botox and filler aesthetic treatments as well as Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy and Endovenous Laser Therapy for varicose vein disease.
Dr. Sanders obtained further training in laser and non-surgical cosmetic therapies and has developed a unique skill set that allows him to provide a comprehensive array of non-surgical laser, vein, aesthetic and skin care services. In the summer of 2010 Dr. Sanders obtained his Diploma in Dermatology through Cardiff University, Wales.
Dr. Sanders is a recognized expert in both Botox and Filler treatments and on many occasions, has trained other physicians in injection technique, and has also been a featured injector at various cosmetic workshops and symposiums.
Dr. Sanders is currently an examiner for the Diploma in Practical Dermatology program through the Department of Dermatology, Cardiff University, Wales and tutors other family physicians with a special interest in dermatology.
Dr. Sanders is Board certified in phlebology (vein medicine) through the American Board of Phlebology and performs both endovenous laser ablation and ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy vein treatments.
Dr. Sanders holds memberships in the following organizations: Canadian Medical Association, British Columbia Medical Association, Canadian College of Family Practice (Fellowship in Family Practice), Canadian Society of Phlebology, American College of Phlebology and the Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine. In his spare time "Dr. Bill" likes to cross country ski, ride his mountain bicycle, kayak, play the piano, read and spend time with his family.
About Dr. April Sanders
Dr. April Sanders is one of the most experienced and respected skin and vein care physicians working in the Okanagan. "Dr. April" began her career as a busy family physician involved in obstetrics, emergency department coverage, hospital work and general medical care. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Simon Fraser University (1975) and an MD degree from the University of British Columbia (1984). She worked for a year at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, B.C. as a rotating intern, finishing in 1985. "Dr. April" took a sabbatical from medicine between 1997 and 2001 and served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia representing Okanagan-Vernon, holding the positions of Education and Mental Health critic while in Government.
In recent years, Dr. April has become an expert phlebologist (vein specialist) honing her skills both in Vernon and as part of a medical team that provides annual vein care treatments in Honduras. Pursuing a lifelong interest in skin disorders, Dr. April completed a Diploma in Dermatology through Cardiff University, Wales in the summer of 2010.
Dr. April is an expert Botox and tissue filler injector and has an excellent "aesthetic eye" due, in part, to her skills as an artist.
Dr. April is well known for her comforting and caring manner and giving her patients the time they need to have their concerns addressed. Dr. Sanders is a member of the Canadian Medical Association, British Columbia Medical Association, Canadian College of Family Practice, Canadian Society of Phlebology, The American College of Phlebology and the Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine.
In her spare time April enjoys jogging, rock climbing, biking, skiing, sewing, beading, cooking, reading and most of all, spending time with her family.
