Laser Vein Therapy
Many patients suffer
with unsightly spider veins on
their face and legs. Spider veins (telangiectasias)
are small red, blue and purple blood vessels that
appear most frequently on the face and thighs.
Varicose veins are larger in diameter and may
appear raised with a bluish color.

Although sclerotherapy is the treatment of choice
for most varicose and spider vein treatments the
laser is often the preferred treatment for facial
veins and smaller leg veins.
The laser can also do a good job of treating the
staining or "matting" that can
occur after sclerotherapy treatments. Our new, advanced laser treatments allow
us to deliver a precise dosage of energy to each vein. During your treatment,
light energy is delivered though a special laser handpiece to the targeted vein.
The light energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, but not the surrounding
tissue. This heat absorption causes a coagulation of the blood vessel, which is
subsequently absorbed by your body.
The majority of the treated vessels will be
gone within one or two treatments. For
maximum long-term resolution, one or two additional treatments may be
necessary. However, if new veins appear, additional treatments are generally
required for optimum results. These treatments are spaced at least eight weeks
apart.
